Trader Joe’s Tikka Masala Curry Sauce: Taste Test and Comparison
Hi Friends! Today I compared the Trader Joe’s Tikka Masala Curry Sauce with a homemade version I made using my instant pot. Both recipes are top 9 free on the ingredient lists!
As always, if you need shared line information about the Trader Joe’s Tikka Masala Curry Sauce call Trader Joe’s at 626-599-3817 to find out if it is safe for your particular allergies.
The recipe I modified can be found here: https://twosleevers.com/chicken-tikka-masala/
The only modifications I made was to substitute canned coconut milk for the yogurt in the marinade as well as for finishing the sauce. To avoid the burn notice with my 8 qt instant pot, I doubled all the sauce ingredients, but not the chicken or marinade. The extra sauce can be frozen for future meals! I used 1/2 c. of coconut milk in the marinade and the remaining 1 cup to finish my double batch of sauce.
The only thing I would do differently is to not add all of the chicken marinade into the instant pot when cooking. With my modifications, mine tasted more like Butter Chicken, which is delicious as well.
If you love Butter Chicken, Urvashi Pitre’s recipe is very similar to the Chicken Tikka Masala recipe and so very good! I’ve substituted coconut milk and dairy-free butter sticks in her recipe with fantastic results as well! https://twosleevers.com/instant-pot-butter-chicken/
